Love: The Most Powerful Force on Earth

You’ve probably heard something similar to this before. It’s honestly kind of fucking annoying how often love comes up. Every song, every movie, and every trip, the concept of love inevitably rears its annoying little head into the mix. There’s, unfortunately, nothing you can do to stop this. That’s because love is truly one of the most powerful forces that exists in the universe.

I came across this meme on Instagram recently and laughed because of its incredible accuracy. It also got me thinking deeper about love and how it influences our behavior as it relates to both ourselves and the world around us. I came to the conclusion that we spend the majority of our lives either seeking love or trying to avoid it altogether. Regardless of which one you’re doing, love is still at the center of your decisions.

Unfortunately, I think we actually spend a lot more time running away from love than we do running toward it. That’s because heartbreak is one of the most painful things you can ever experience. If you allow yourself to love, you also open yourself up to heartbreak. Heartbreak isn’t fun, you don’t need me to tell you that. It actually fucking sucks. When someone close to you dies or you and your significant other break up, the emotions you experience after the fact can be described as unpleasant at best. After something like this happens, it can be very easy to put some guard rails up to avoid feeling that way in the future. We do this without even thinking because we naturally don’t want to feel that type of pain.

On the flip side, when you do feel love, holy shit does it feel good. It’s like fucking crack (I’ve never actually done crack but I assume it’s pretty awesome). Love has so many different forms too, which makes it very hard to avoid. It can sneak up on you, and it often does when you least expect it. It can be overwhelming when that happens. No matter how hard you try to resist or fight, it’s still there though. That’s why I argue that we need to try our best to stay open to love and constantly live in that state. The more we get used to feeling it, the easier it will be to ride its ups and downs.

It takes a lot of practice and patience to open yourself up to feeling the expanse of love on a daily basis. Allowing yourself to feel the full depth of love is intense. Anytime I’ve felt it during a moment in time I literally cry because of the intensity. I can’t help myself. Feeling love from within yourself isn’t always easy, but you’ll notice how incredible you feel when you figure it out.

I don’t really have a grand conclusion for this post other than to urge myself and anyone reading this to notice when we start moving away from love. Just notice. Then start to ask ourselves why. At the end of it all, realize that it’s okay to surrender to that feeling and begin to embody love’s pure energy in everything you do. That right there is a life well spent.
