Welcome to Trippy Monday’s, where I go over 3 things that caught my attention from this past week. Enjoy!
(1) One of my best friends is going through a breakup right now, and without giving away too many details, his life is about to look drastically different. He’s also probably reading this, so hi buddy. While it’s obviously tough on him, it’s tough on me, too. Not for the same reasons, of course, but as his friend, I want him to be happy, and it hurts to see him going through so much pain and heartbreak without being able to do anything about it other than just be there and listen. I’ve been talking with him on the phone regularly and giving him advice when he asks (whether or not he listens to the advice is his choice), but this is still a process he largely needs to go through on his own.
This is the first time I’ve been in this position with someone so close to me who had a relationship I genuinely supported. Life events, whether they are relationships ending, the deaths of people who you’re close with, or losing a job you really like, are quite psychedelic in nature. Not in the fun, trippy way, but more in the ego-death, identity crisis sort of way. There is so much information and new ways of thinking that you have to integrate back into your daily life now which simply wasn’t the case before. I think taking psychedelics can help people prepare for the uncertainties of life. I know my buddy might not be able to believe this quite yet, but I truly do believe that what’s happening to him right now, while it absolutely sucks in almost every way, is necessary for him to grow and ultimately find an even better path.
(2) I officially started a new job working for a healing center in Costa Rica called Posada Natura. This has been a longgggg time in the making and required me to be extremely patient and trust myself more than I ever have when it’s come to anything in my professional life, and I’m just so humbled and grateful for this opportunity to take the skills I’ve gained from my other jobs and apply them to something I’m truly passionate about.
Posada Natura offers ayahuasca retreats and other forms of healing, and if you are interested please check out their website and reach out to me with any questions!
(3) I decided to go out with some coworkers from the restaurant I work at after our shift on Friday night. I never usually stay past when I’m needed, so this was my first time hanging with them outside of a work setting. I got to talking with one of my coworkers, and psychedelics somehow got brought up in the conversation, and we had one of those moments where you just immediately click with someone and form a connection that usually takes quite a bit of time. We talked about our lives and how we got here and what we’re passionate about without any of the normal conversational bullshit that comes with talking to strangers. It was a really cool moment and I’m glad psychedelics helped to create a genuine human connection.
