This is the very first iteration of a weekly email blast that I want to try out where I showcase 3 things from this past week that caught my attention. They could be things that happened to me, quotes I came across, random thoughts, or literally anything else that made me stop and think. Hope you enjoy!
(1) An old fraternity brother that I haven’t spoken to in years reached out to me saying that I saw my post on LinkedIn where I talked about TripSitting and my own struggles with mental health. He told me about his own struggles with mental health and we then talked on facetime and caught up.
It was a great reminder of why I started TripSitting in the first place and made me really happy knowing that discussing my own mental health struggles and knowledge from my journey can help others too.
(2) “If the path before you is clear, you’re probably on someone else’s” – Carl Jung
This quote resonated with me because it feels like I’m living in a state of uncertainty right now without having a normal 9-5 job and working on growing TripSitting and Conscious Retreats. It feels like I’m running around like a chicken with its head cut off half the time, but this quote helped me realize that that’s ok. I’m not supposed to know all of the answers because I’m on my own path. I just have to keep going.
(3) I went out with some friends Friday night and Saturday night this past weekend. A couple of things came from this:
The first is that it’s okay to go out and have fun without thinking about all the other shit going on in life. Taking breaks and turning your mind off is actually very good for your mental health. Hustle culture is incredibly toxic.
The second is that I simply cannot stay up super late like I used to. I know I’m only 26, but boy do I feel tired as fuck when I wake up after staying out late now. I went to be at around 2 am both nights, and the next day just felt off.
